IT Communications Specialist

The IT Communication Specialist is responsible for developing and coordinating communication across the IT organization ensuring that IT priorities initiatives changes achievements and key messages are communicated clearly consistently and effectively. Working within the CIO Office the role acts as a bridge between IT teams leadership and business stakeholders transforming complex or technical information into communication that is accessible engaging and relevant to the target audience. The role contributes directly to employee engagement change adoption IT visibility and a stronger One IT culture.

Responsibilities:

IT Communication Strategy & Planning

• Develop and maintain the IT communication plan aligned with CIO and IT priorities.
• Coordinate communication calendars campaigns recurring communications and key IT events.
• Ensure consistency of messaging tone branding and communication standards across IT.
• Identify the appropriate communication channel audience timing and format for different messages.

Content Creation

• Translate complex IT topics into clear concise business-friendly communication.
• Create content for newsletters announcements presentations intranet pages Teams posts executive communications campaigns and leadership updates.
• Prepare communication materials supporting major IT programs transformations organizational changes cybersecurity initiatives and technology rollouts.
• Develop engaging visual storytelling infographics presentations and communication assets.

Executive & Leadership Communication

• Support the CIO and IT leadership team in preparing presentations key messages talking points speeches and internal communications.
• Help structure management messages around IT strategy transformation performance achievements and priorities.
• Support preparation of town halls management meetings kick-offs offsites and other IT events.

Change & Adoption Communication

• Develop communication plans supporting technology and process changes.
• Work with project teams to explain what is changing why it matters when it will happen and what employees need to do.
• Support user awareness engagement and adoption of new tools processes and services.
• Adapt communication according to different stakeholder groups and levels of technical knowledge.

IT Community & Engagement

• Contribute to building a strong IT identity and community.
• Promote IT achievements success stories innovations teams and people.
• Develop initiatives that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across IT.
• Support recognition initiatives and employee engagement activities.

Communication Governance

• Establish templates standards and good practices for IT communication.
• Maintain communication repositories and reusable materials.
• Coordinate with Corporate Communication HR Cybersecurity PMO Quality and other relevant functions.
• Ensure sensitive or confidential information is handled appropriately.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

• Track communication effectiveness through engagement metrics feedback surveys attendance and adoption indicators.
• Identify opportunities to improve communication channels and formats.
• Use data and feedback to continuously improve the IT communication approach.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Communication Marketing Journalism Business IT Digital Communication or a related field.
• Ideally 35 years of experience in internal communication corporate communication change communication or technology communication.
• Previous experience working within an IT technology digital transformation or complex international organization is strongly preferred.
• Experience communicating technology-related topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• General IT experience alone is not sufficient. The person should have demonstrable communication experience.

Required Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French would be an asset.
• Strong storytelling and message-structuring capabilities.
• Ability to simplify complex technical topics without losing the essential message.
• Strong PowerPoint skills and a good sense of visual communication.
• Experience creating professional presentations newsletters campaigns and digital content.
• Understanding of IT organizations technology projects transformation and change management.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills and confidence interacting with senior management.
• Ability to work with multiple teams and manage several communication activities simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and editorial quality.
• Proactive creative structured and comfortable working with limited supervision.

Nice to Have

• Experience with tools such as Microsoft 365 Teams SharePoint PowerPoint Adobe tools or similar content-creation platforms.
• Experience with employee engagement or change-management methodologies.
• Basic understanding of project management.
• Experience organizing town halls workshops leadership events or internal campaigns.
• Experience working in an international / multicultural environment.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted communication and content-generation tools.

Key Competencies

• I would particularly look for:
• Communication judgment knows not only how to write but what to communicate to whom when and through which channel.
• Technology curiosity does not need to be an engineer but should be comfortable discussing topics such as cloud infrastructure cybersecurity applications AI IT transformation etc.
• Executive presence comfortable challenging and advising senior stakeholders when a message is unclear or ineffective.
• Storytelling can turn a technical project update into something people actually understand and want to read.
• Autonomy can take a rough idea such as we need to communicate this IT transformation and turn it into a communication approach content visuals and delivery plan.
• Stakeholder orientation understands that communication is not simply producing PowerPoint slides; the objective is clarity engagement and adoption.
