Reset Tech

Our mission is to support a “reset” of the relationship between media and democracy in the digital age to ensure that publics are more informed and less divided. We seek to neutralise the threats posed to democracy by digital media monopolies and restore the power of information technology as a force for effective self-government. In practice, Reset Tech is a hybrid organisation. We are directly engaged in research, policy development and advocacy. We also serve as a multi-donor, managed fund using a directed investment model to redistribute the capital of its donor partners to highest and best use against a common strategy. Sitting within a federated structure of practitioners and aligned funders, the agility of this core fund is used to rapidly deploy networked capacity and expertise to capitalise on real-time developments in different parts of the world. We believe elevating the quality of the public debate and restoring a baseline of shared facts will make real progress more likely for every major challenge facing the world today -- from climate change to racial justice, economic inequality to public health. Reset Tech is an independent, coordinated network of not-for-profit organisations operating around the world.
