Senior Technician
Job Summary
Job Purpose
To execute and supervise field activities related to lube oil flushing & filtration chemical cleaning and confined space entry cleaning ensuring compliance with project specifications safety standards and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Execution
- Perform lube oil flushing and filtration activities for rotating equipment (turbines compressors pumps) as per approved procedures and OEM requirements.
- Execute chemical cleaning operations (alkaline cleaning acid cleaning passivation flushing) for pipelines heat exchangers and process systems.
- Carry out confined space cleaning activities including tank cleaning and internal equipment cleaning.
- Operate and troubleshoot flushing units filtration skids pumps heaters and chemical dosing systems.
- Ensure cleanliness levels meet required standards (e.g. NAS/ISO cleanliness codes).
2. Supervision & Coordination
- Lead a team of technicians and helpers at site.
- Allocate tasks and ensure work is performed as per method statements and schedules.
- Coordinate with supervisors QA/QC and client representatives during execution.
- Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment and manpower.
3. Health Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure strict compliance with permit-to-work systems especially for confined space entry.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure team adherence to safety procedures.
- Monitor gas testing ventilation and rescue arrangements during confined space work.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment at all times.
- Report hazards near misses and incidents.
4. Quality Assurance / Control
- Follow approved method statements risk assessments and ITPs.
- Maintain records of flushing parameters chemical usage and inspection reports.
- Perform sampling and cleanliness checks during flushing operations.
- Ensure all activities meet client and project specifications.
5. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
- Inspect and maintain flushing/cleaning equipment before and after use.
- Report defects and coordinate repairs with workshop teams.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and consumables.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily progress reports and site logs.
- Record operational parameters (flow rate temperature pressure cleanliness levels).
- Assist in preparation of final project reports and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–8 years of experience in oil & gas field services.
- Proven experience in:
- Lube oil flushing & high-velocity flushing
- Oil filtration systems
- Chemical cleaning processes
- Confined space entry and tank cleaning
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment systems.
- Ability to read P&IDs isometric drawings and method statements.
- Leadership and team supervision skills.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with international standards (ISO ASTM API).
Certifications (Preferred/Required)
- Confined Space Entry Certification
- H2S Awareness / Safety Training
- First Aid Certification
- Permit to Work (PTW) Training
- Forklift / equipment operation license (if applicable)
Working Conditions
- Field-based role with extensive site work.
- May require long hours shift work and work in harsh environments.
- Travel to various project sites as required.
