STRAGO International is recruiting a hands-on Maintenance Engineer for an engineering company based in Qatar

• Direct reports: None formally; guides and schedules the maintenance technician team
• Business travel: Moderate
• Contract: Full-time (terms shared with shortlisted candidates)

The Opportunity

Our client is an established multinational manufacturer with production facilities across the region. It works to ISO-certified quality and HSE management systems.

The Maintenance Engineer keeps plant and equipment running at peak availability. You will own day-to-day maintenance planning lead the shop-floor maintenance team drive preventive maintenance and hold Stop Work Authority on safety matters.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance planning and execution

• Schedule and monitor daily maintenance jobs and plan shift rosters informing the relevant departments.
• Ensure all breakdowns are attended to and closed out promptly.
• Deliver the preventive maintenance programme across plant and equipment.
• Diagnose technical problems and guide the team to resolution.

Spares procurement and contractors

• Monitor and plan consumables and spare parts.
• Raise purchase requests and follow up through to delivery.
• Oversee services delivered under Annual Maintenance Contracts where applicable.

Team leadership

• Maximise and control manpower utilisation.
• Motivate the team and maintain discipline.
• Assess team skill levels identify training needs and coach continuously.

Health safety and quality

• Ensure adherence to ISO and HSE procedures.
• Monitor HSE performance close out observation points and drive improvements.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority where safety is at risk.

Other duties may be assigned by the line manager.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 3 years in maintenance engineering preferably in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Languages: Fluent English is essential. Arabic and/or Hindi or the local language of the work location is preferred.
• Software: ERP systems MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Driving licence: A valid licence is preferred.
• Certifications: None required.
