Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2016/2019/2022 administration across Windows and Linux platforms. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the installation configuration maintenance performance tuning backup and recovery security patching high availability and disaster recovery of Microsoft SQL Server addition the candidate should possess working knowledge of Oracle Database 19c administration to support existing Oracle environments assist with database maintenance activities and participate in migration and upgrade projects. Experience in SQL Server and Oracle database migration projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Install configure upgrade and administer Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022 environments.

• Monitor SQL Server health performance availability and capacity using native tools and monitoring solutions.

• Perform database performance tuning by analyzing execution plans indexes waits locks blocking and resource utilization.

• Implement and manage backup restore and disaster recovery strategies to meet business RPO/RTO requirements.

• Configure and support SQL Server High Availability technologies such as Always On Availability Groups Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) Log Shipping Database Mirroring and Replication.

• Perform database migration and upgrade activities with minimal downtime.

• Troubleshoot production issues database corruption deadlocks blocking and long-running queries.

• Create and maintain SQL Server Agent Jobs Maintenance Plans Alerts and Operators.

• Implement database security including logins users roles permissions encryption and auditing.

• Develop and optimize T-SQL scripts stored procedures functions views and triggers.

• Perform index maintenance statistics updates database consistency checks and capacity planning.

• Configure and manage TempDB storage filegroups and database growth settings.

• Work closely with application teams to optimize database performance and resolve SQL-related issues.

• Support production deployments release management and change implementation.

• Participate in on-call support and incident management for production environments.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation operational procedures and database standards.

Oracle Database Administration

• Install configure upgrade patch and maintain Oracle Database environments (11g 12c 19c).

• Perform Oracle Database 19c upgrades migrations and technology stack upgrades.

• Manage database creation cloning refreshes and environment provisioning.

• Administer multitenant databases (CDB/PDB architecture).

• Perform database backup and recovery using RMAN.

• Configure and manage Flashback Database and Guaranteed Restore Points.

• Monitor database health availability and performance.

• Troubleshoot database issues and perform root cause analysis.

Performance Tuning

• Analyze and optimize SQL queries and execution plans.

• Monitor AWR ASH ADDM reports and recommend improvements.

• Tune database parameters memory structures and storage configurations.

• Resolve database performance bottlenecks and locking issues.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Configure and support Oracle Data Guard environments.

• Manage database failover and switchover activities.

• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

• Support business continuity initiatives.

Patching & Upgrades

• Apply Oracle Release Updates (RU) CPU PSU and one-off patches using OPatch.

• Plan and execute database upgrade projects.

• Maintain Oracle Inventory and patch compliance documentation.

Windows & Linux Administration

• Perform database administration activities on Linux and Windows servers.

• Manage Oracle services listeners scheduled jobs and startup/shutdown procedures.

• Coordinate with infrastructure teams for server provisioning and maintenance.

Preferred Skills

• Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.

• Expertise in T-SQL programming and query optimization.

• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

• Knowledge of SQL Server Agent Maintenance Plans and SQL Profiler.

• Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups and High Availability solutions.

• Experience with backup and recovery strategies.

• Strong knowledge of indexing partitioning statistics and execution plans.

• Experience in performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with Windows Server administration related to SQL Server.

• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for SQL Server automation.

• Experience with database migration upgrades and patching.

• Good understanding of security encryption and compliance requirements.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance.

• Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
