Job Summary
Requirements
- Read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints and technical specifications to determine machining requirements
- Set up and operate manual lathes milling machines drill presses grinders and other conventional machine tools
- Select appropriate tooling speeds feeds and cutting parameters based on material type and job requirements
- Measure inspect and verify finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers calipers dial indicators gauges) to ensure conformance to tolerances
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal working condition
- Fabricate repair or modify parts and tools as required
- Maintain accurate production records including job cards time logs and material usage
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean organized workspace
- Collaborate with supervisors engineers and quality control staff to resolve production issues
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma/ITI certificate in Mechanical Engineering Machining Technology or related trade
- Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience as a manual machinist (industry-dependent)
- Proficiency in operating manual lathes milling machines and grinding equipment
- Strong knowledge of metals materials and their machining properties
- Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
- Good mathematical skills (geometry trigonometry) for calculations
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Physical stamina for standing lifting and repetitive tasks
