Job Summary
The post holder will report to the Avionics Senior Supervisor and be an experienced and skilled avionic technician and supervisor undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on aircraft or on aircraft components.
The post holder requires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon approved data set and is competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in accordance with the organisations regulatory framework.
- Undertaking detailed maintenance inspection and supervision activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components. Assuring work carried out has been completed in accordance with the tasking / Work package using the relevant approved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenance issues including configuration management
- Maintaining a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency on completion of On the Job training (OJT) activities sign other personnels Log Books as appropriate within your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor undertake authorisation and task competency approvals and check Pt 145 license application packs prior to submission
- Undertaking and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on an aircraft or components which may include as appropriate aircraft ground handling flight servicing aircraft role changes component removals inspections repairs modifications fault rectifications replacements and/or functional/system test
- Supervising team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues escalate as required. Report on any impact to the wider programme
- Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
- Ensuring staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them
- Maintaining personal & teams task authorisation for working on aircraft or components in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others
- Undertaking support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE
- Provide guidance and leadership to the team. Develops team members using formal assessment processes. Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information
- Undertaking fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults during maintenance
- Performance indicators Ensure the effective management of Part 145 activities by setting delivery targets monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programs. Prioritises activities within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generating effective resolution or sponsoring escalation to management as appropriate
- Completion of activities Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based). Ensure suitably qualified experienced and authorised personnel perform all Part 145 activities. Ensure the integration of Part 145 activity within the business including the engagement of key stakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance to the team
- Procedure/standards Manage the Part 145 team(s) compliance with the Part 145 Exposition its associated procedures and standards and any other Company procedures and standards as applicable. Identify propose and implement change as required whilst ensuring compliance
- Safety Management System Promote the application of human factors error management risk management and safety assurance within the Part 145 team together with the proactive analysis mitigation and management of hazards
- Management System Assurance Ensure Part 145 team activities are compliant with the governance and assurance framework. Ensure process confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by Part 145 personnel and integrated within/across teams. Manage the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generate and implement effective improvements within/across teams to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness
- Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative requirements Able to demonstrate a good understanding and application of the relevant continuing airworthiness regulatory framework and ensure any regulatory driven changes are implemented within the Part 145 team(s) activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements e.g. ITAR EaPW ISO etc.
- Contractual Requirements Ensure compliance with all applicable contractual requirements e.g. through support to contract reviews and ensure any changes are implemented into the Part 145 activities
- Typhoon Avionic Trade Q Course
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications. Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent. Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement)
- Requires a broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency within own technical/subject area. Awareness of how the team integrates with others in order to achieve the overall objectives of the area and demonstrates an understanding of the requirement for continuous improvement and its application
- Experienced and competent leader at this level. Requires a minimum of 2 years working at Supervisor level prior to undertaking a Senior role. Demonstrating breadth of experience currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays. Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures Management training. PDR training / experience
- Experienced and competent in Maintenix system (IMS) and Eurofighter support system (ESS)

Required Skills:
Comply with the latest issue of the BAE SYSTEMS Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and general awareness of the defence logistics framework and associated procedures in relation to the movement of all logistics items Receive all items checking that all required documentation is present and correct and that the packaging is intact. Check that part numbers on documentation matches that marked on the part or parts packaging Quarantine any non-conforming items for appropriate investigation action. Record receipts using the electronic stock accounting systems and procedures currently in operation Place stores and parts demands as required on IMS Maintain the preservation of materials and equipment whilst in storage or transit Ensure the storage handling and movement of hazardous materials is carried out as defined within hazard data sheets and mandated procedures Pick pack and deliver parts requests to the customer checking the right parts are delivered to the right place at the right time safely including line side replenishment Coordination of any Tasking requests that require forklift/vehicle support providing that support and liaising with the requestor to ensure any access or support issues are addressed prior to the activity Coordination of Forward Delivery activities ensuring the QEAF members of staff know where to deliver to and where to collect from Protect any materials for dispatch against transit damage Identify and report inabilities of supply items to all relevant teams Be able to coordinate and assist in the preparation of detachment pack ups Assist in programmed/adhoc Stock Taking activities Performing and understanding investigation activities on IMS to assist in and resolve any stock discrepancies Deliver a Direct Line Feed (DLF) service to Depth and Forward supplying and replenishing all consumable requirements including POL. Ensure the DLF Forward and Depth visit schedule is adhered to preventing any consumable racks or POL in-use lockers from reaching nil stock Maintain the physical storage issue and receipt into and out of stock of all POL items Conduct Warehouse husbandry and building oversite checks Carry out shift work as required in rotation Mentoring QEAF Team members of the Team in effective and safe Supply Chain Operations including monitoring of IMS inputs by the QEAF
