We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer with foundational skills in T-SQL ETL concepts and Microsoft Data Factory/Fabric to support daily operations at database and data lake level.
In this role you will execute well-defined data tasks follow established runbooks and help ensure that pipelines transformations and datasets run reliably. This position is ideal for someone early in their data engineering journey who is eager to learn grow and contribute to a production-grade environment with close guidance from senior team members.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING
Pipeline Operations & Monitoring
Run and monitor Microsoft Data Factory/Fabric pipelines and workflows escalating issues when necessary.
Assist with reviewing pipelines and dataflows in Azure Data Factory/Fabric.
Data Exploration & Transformation
Use Microsoft Data Factory/Fabric (Lakehouse Warehouse Notebooks) for simple data exploration and operational tasks.
Apply basic SQL (filters joins aggregations) for straightforward data checks and transformations.
Perform simple PySpark transformations as part of routine processing.
Work with Delta Lake tables understanding ACID properties and versioning at a basic level.
Operational Execution & Data Quality
Execute operational tasks across databases and data lakes following established procedures and runbooks.
Collaborate with teammates to maintain data quality and troubleshoot issues.
Governance & Continuous Learning
Follow established best practices documentation and governance guidelines.
Learn continuously and expand capabilities across Fabric ETL tooling SQL and orchestration.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Basic T-SQL skills (filters joins aggregations).
Understanding of ETL fundamentals data quality basics and ability to follow established runbooks.
Introductory exposure to dbt (models sources).
Basic understanding of Microsoft Data Factory/Fabric (pipelines dataflows lakehouses etc.).
Ability to create and monitor Microsoft Data Factory/Fabric pipelines.
Ability to execute simple PySpark transformations.
Understanding of Delta Lake fundamentals (ACID time travel versioning).
Asks clarifying questions when unsure.
Communicates blockers early and proactively.
Open to feedback and eager to learn.
Works effectively with close guidance.
Demonstrates basic ownership and reliability.
