Job Summary

This is a remote position.

Role Overview

The Financial Controller will take ownership of the companys financial control forecasting
commercial analysis cash flow compliance and financial performance across all entities.
This is not a reporting-only role. The successful candidate will independently analyse
financial information investigate variances and risks identify opportunities and bring
practical solutions and recommendations to the Directors.
The ideal candidate will operate with minimal direction set their own priorities and
proactively identify what the business needs to know.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Finance
Act as a financial partner to the Directors and provide commercial advice.
Analyse financial performance margins pricing costs and profitability.
Investigate variances anomalies and cost overruns to root cause.
Identify financial and commercial risks before they become problems.
Present clear options financial impacts and recommended actions.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and working capital.
Forecasting & Planning
Own cash flow forecasting across all entities.
Prepare budgets and monitor actual performance against budget.
Maintain accurate 3 6 and 12-month forecasts.
Develop financial models and scenario analysis for business decisions.
Stress-test downside scenarios and identify potential cash flow pressures.
Provide practical recommendations before financial issues arise.
Financial Control & Reporting
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of all Xero entities.
Oversee reconciliations bank feeds general ledger fixed assets and intercompany
accounts.
Manage the month-end close process.
Ensure financial reports are completed by Day 10.
Ensure accruals are reviewed and confirmed by Day 4.
Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Receivables Payables & Risk
Oversee accounts receivable and debt recovery.
Monitor client credit risks and recommend appropriate action.
Manage vendor payment strategies in line with cash flow.
Identify duplicate payments backcharges uninvoiced work and other financial
exposures.
Investigate unusual transactions and recommend corrective action.
Advise Directors when external or legal recovery action may be required.
Compliance & Governance
Oversee payroll superannuation payroll tax BAS and ATO requirements.
Ensure Australian financial and taxation obligations are completed accurately and on
time.
Maintain appropriate financial records controls and the PPSR register.
Coordinate EOFY and year-end requirements.
Manage relationships with external accountants auditors and financial advisers.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead and develop two junior offshore finance team members.
Set standards priorities and performance expectations.
Review transactional work and ensure accuracy and deadlines are maintained.
Improve finance systems processes reporting and internal controls.
Delegate effectively and focus on higher-level financial management rather than
routine processing.



Requirements

CPA or CA qualified.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller Finance Manager or equivalent senior
finance role.
Strong Australian accounting experience is essential.
Strong knowledge of ATO BAS superannuation payroll tax EOFY and Australian
compliance requirements.
Experience managing multi-entity accounts.
Strong Xero experience including reconciliations GL intercompany transactions
bank feeds and reporting.
Strong cash flow forecasting budgeting financial modelling and scenario analysis
skills.
Strong commercial understanding of margins pricing costs working capital and
profitability.
Proven ability to investigate problems identify root causes and provide solutions.
Experience leading and developing finance teams.
Confident communicating directly with Directors and business owners.
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
Construction property contracting or project-based experience is highly regarded.


Required Skills:

Requirements Must have a qualification in accounting or bookkeeping such as a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or higher Must have at least 4 years of experience in bookkeeping with a proven track record of managing financial records and preparing financial reports Must have at least 6 years of experience in Australian organisations overall Experience in using bookkeeping software such as Xero and MYOB are required Must have experience working with Australian Payroll Legislations Must have advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal Exceptional analytical skills to be able to interpret financial data and provide insights to clients or employers
