CAD Engineer (Flexible Fractional Placement)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly precise detail-oriented CAD / Applications Drafting Engineer to take ownership of our customer-specific submittal packages. This position is explicitly focused on application engineering for our existing product catalog; there are no research and development (R&D) or conceptual design responsibilities. Your primary objective is to translate customer site constraints and blueprint requirements into flawless production-ready technical submittal sets.

The Fractional Scalability Structure

To align perfectly with our current project pipeline (1 major project deployment per month) this role is structured with a highly flexible scaling model:

• The Launch Phase: You will start with a dedicated allocation of 10 hours per week allowing you to embed into our systems study our core product catalog and build solid foundational product knowledge.

• The Ramp Strategy: Unlike unstable per-project freelance arrangements this is a dedicated retainer position. As our corporate project volume accelerates your hours are structured to dynamically ramp to 20 30 and eventually 40 hours per week to support full-time operational scaling.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Submittal Package Assembly

• Blueprint Redlining: Review incoming customer architectural blue-prints engineering layouts and structural scopes meticulously applying technical redline layers to map our existing products to their specific site parameters.

• Submittal Compilation: Group structural CAD assets component datasheets compliance specifications and instructional details into highly polished comprehensive technical submittal packages for customer sign-off.

• Revision Control: Rapidly execute client-requested layout modifications and adjustments ensuring all updates are correctly archived across internal document repositories.

2. CAD Drafting & Library Optimization

• Build clean and modify precise 2D/3D CAD layouts and installation schema mapping back to real-world customer deployment metrics.

• Ensure all customer-facing documentation strictly adheres to company standard drafting formats sheet scales line weights and geometric tolerances.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: 3 years of professional drafting and detailing experience using modern CAD software platforms (AutoCAD SolidWorks or adjacent mechanical/architectural suites).

• Domain Focus: Proven background in applications engineering submittal tracking or architectural/industrial redline drafting. You are highly comfortable reading complex structural blueprints and manufacturing data sheets.

• The Zero R&D Analytical Mindset: You excel at executing practical application-level engineering workflows. You take pride in layout precision consistency and structural catalog mapping rather than open-ended design experimentation.

• High Operational Autonomy: Even at 10 hours a week you treat your dedicated allocation with absolute professionalismmanaging your task velocity independently without requiring daily micro-management.

• Communication Clarity: Strong written and verbal English communication skills specifically when documenting technical revisions clarifying blueprint data or collaborating with team leads.
