At Six Robotics we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate adapt on the fly and execute missions that were previously impossible.

From our base in Oslo our team of 90 engineers researchers and defence specialists develops our autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. Working closely with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and end users we move quickly from ideas to field deployment solving problems where software meets the real world.

Every engineer at Six Robotics depends on infrastructure that works. When servers storage networks and the machines on peoples desks run reliably our teams can focus on building autonomy that performs in the field.

You will take hands-on ownership of day-to-day IT operations and infrastructure in a Linux-heavy on-premises environment. The scope runs from the racks in our data centre including GPUs managed switches storage and connected hardware for hardware-in-the-loop testing to the identities access and equipment of the people who use it.

This is a role for a generalist. We are not looking for an expert in every technology but for someone who understands how the pieces fit together learns unfamiliar systems quickly and takes a problem from first report to resolution.

This is not an invisible back-office role. Every improvement you make to reliability automation or support translates directly into faster safer work across the company. As priorities shift so will your focus and you will have the freedom to shape the tools systems and practices you own.

• Operate and troubleshoot our Linux-based infrastructure and internal services including servers storage networking virtualisation backups and monitoring.

• Do hands-on data-centre work: installation cabling hardware replacement and fault-finding.

• Support employees and endpoints across Linux Windows and macOS and manage identity access onboarding offboarding and equipment.

• Handle incidents and vendors keep documentation current and drive ongoing improvements to our infrastructure.

• Automate recurring work and reduce operational dependencies so the environment stays reliable as we grow.

We believe you are a senior hands-on infrastructure generalist who is as comfortable at a rack as in a terminal and who gets energy from keeping others productive. You are pragmatic prioritise well and take responsibility without needing every problem to be fully defined.

We believe the right candidate brings:

• 5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure with strong Linux skills.

• Practical experience from on-premises infrastructure and data-centre environments.

• A solid understanding of servers storage networking and virtualisation and a structured approach to troubleshooting.

• Comfort supporting both infrastructure and end users.

• The ability to work independently learn unfamiliar systems quickly and see problems through to resolution.

Experience with any of the following is a plus but not a requirement: virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox OpenStack or VMware KVM and Docker hardware-in-the-loop test environments CI/CD infrastructure and Kubernetes.
