At Six Robotics we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate adapt on the fly and execute missions that were previously impossible.

From our base in Oslo our team of 90 engineers researchers and defence specialists develops our autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. Working closely with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and end users we move quickly from ideas to field deployment solving problems where software meets the real world.

As Head of IT at Six Robotics you will lead a small internal IT team and take full end-to-end ownership of the companys internal IT operations reporting directly to the CTO. This is a broad role with a clear mandate to ensure secure reliable and scalable systems that enable the rest of the company to stay focused. Youll own the overall IT strategy while remaining hands-on yourself dividing responsibilities between you and an IT Platform Engineer to keep both the big picture and the day-to-day running smoothly.

Success in this role means engineers no longer spend time on IT support and internal systems simply work. Leadership has confidence that access security and compliance are under control. Issues are handled quickly and proactively risks are identified early and IT becomes an enabler rather than a bottleneck.

You will collaborate closely across teams to strengthen IT security and compliance while also handling day-to-day system administration and support. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving and full ownership from improving access and tooling to stepping in when something breaks whether it is a VPN issue or a printer that stops working.

• Own internal IT end-to-end: Be the primary owner of all internal IT operations from day-to-day support to long-term improvements across systems devices and tools.
  

• Own IT strategy and budget: Set overall IT priorities and decide where investment goes to strengthen systems and infrastructure. Own the IT budget and lead procurement in collaboration with the CTO. This also includes deciding how the IT function evolves over time including when to bring in external consultants versus expanding the internal team and which roles or skill sets are needed as the company scales.
  

• Drive security and compliance in practice: Translate security and compliance requirements (e.g. ISO) into concrete workable technical controls across access endpoints and internal platforms. Own the technical follow-up of security measures and work closely with all teams to ensure ongoing compliance with regulations.
  

• Maintain core infrastructure: Own the physical backbone and data centers where applicable including servers storage virtualisation backups and monitoring along with hands-on work such as hardware installation cabling and fault-finding.
  

• Manage identity access and endpoints: Own onboarding/offboarding permissions device management and secure configurations across Windows and Linux environments
  

• Enable secure connectivity across the company: Take full ownership of the companys network infrastructure ensuring stable secure access for all employees.
  

• Administer and evolve internal platforms: Manage and improve core tools such as Microsoft 365 Google Workspace Slack and other internal services keeping a clear overview of vendors licenses and integrations.
  

• Build a scalable IT foundation: Establish documentation routines and standards that reduce support load improve reliability and enable the IT function to scale with the company.

This is a generalist role. Youll move across security networking identity endpoints and platform administration as priorities shift and we value broad adaptable technical judgment over deep specialist expertise in any single area. Youre someone who can learn unfamiliar systems quickly and take ownership from problems through resolution rather than staying within a narrow lane.

We are looking for a hands-on IT professional with strong ownership and a security-first mindset. You take responsibility when things break and you enjoy building structures where it does not yet exist. You are comfortable switching between strategic priorities and day-to-day execution from improving access control and endpoint management to helping a colleague set up their working computer.

You thrive in a standalone role communicate clearly and stay organised under changing priorities. You focus on reliable delivery pragmatic problem solving and creating an IT setup that is secure scalable and easy for the team to use.

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IT operations or IT management roles

• Strong understanding of networking endpoint management and operating systems (Linux and Windows); experience with Linux and private data centers is a plus

• Experience administering Microsoft and Google platforms in a secure manner

• Solid knowledge of security identity and access management

• Ability to understand and implement technical aspects of ISO and compliance requirements

• Strong communication skills and a service-minded pragmatic approach

• High level of autonomy structure and accountability

• An eagerness to take ownership of processes and be proactive in uncovering company needs that may arise

• A technical education at bachelors level or equivalent practical experience

• Fluency in English both written and spoken

Background from defence telecom or security-focused organizations is an advantage.
