Required Skills:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teach and effectively prepare SS3 students for WAEC NECO and other relevant examinations. Lead and supervise the English Department ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Coordinate schemes of work lesson planning assessments and curriculum delivery. Monitor student performance and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes. Integrate educational technology and innovative teaching methods into classroom instruction. Conduct lesson observations and review students work providing constructive feedback to teachers. Mentor and support English teachers and identify professional development needs. Ensure consistent standards in teaching marking assessment and classroom management. Promote strong literacy reading writing communication and critical-thinking skills. Organise departmental meetings maintain records and provide academic reports as required. Support English-related competitions debates public speaking reading programmes and other enrichment activities. Allocating literature novels grammar textbooks audio-visual aids and departmental budgets across classrooms. Work closely with school leadership to achieve departmental academic targets. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in English English Education or a related field. . PGDE PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification including TCRN. Minimum 5 years teaching experience in a reputable secondary school. Strong knowledge of WAEC and NECO English requirements. Previous HOD Subject Coordinator or leadership experience is preferred. WAEC English examiner/marker experience is an advantage. British/Cambridge curriculum experience is an advantage. Strong communication leadership organisational and classroom-management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology. Mature professional diligent and committed to continuous learning.
