Position Overview:

The Software Engineer I designs develops and enhances software firmware contributing to code reviews and overall software architecture. This role sits within our Amsterdam Netherlands location with or Power Systems business unit. This role plays a foundational role in supporting the development of innovative software solutions within the Navico Group PD&E division. This position is designed for recent graduates or individuals with limited industry experience who are eager to grow their technical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment. Under the mentorship of senior engineers the Software Engineer I contributes to the full software development lifecycle including design coding testing and documentation while gaining exposure to real-world engineering practices. This role emphasizes learning adaptability and teamwork providing a strong platform for career progression in embedded systems and marine technologies.

Essential Functions:

Lead the design and development of scalable high-performance software systems.

Facilitate technical design sessions and conduct in-depth code reviews.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align solutions with businessobjectives.

Champion software quality through test automation CI/CD and best practices.

Influence architectural direction and contribute to long-term technical strategy.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors orMasters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming Windows/desktop basics and version control systems (e.g. Git).
Advanced knowledge of electronics and embedded systems.

7 years of software engineering experience including system design and implementation.

Expertisein software architecture scalable system design and performance optimization.

Proficiencyin modern programming languages and development frameworks (e.g. Python C# .Net MAUI).

Strong leadership communication and mentoring skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading Agile teams or technical initiatives.

Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications.

Experience with safety-critical or high-reliability systems.

Familiarity with embedded security bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms.

Working Conditions:

In office on a hybrid basis is required
Mostly office environment and in engineer labs.
May be required to perform field tests.

Pay Verbiage

This exciting position offers anannual basesalary range between70500 EURto96800 EUR. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors including skills experience and location.

This salary will be pro-rated based on any part-time working agreement.

This position is eligible for participation in discretionary bonus plan in accordance with company policies.
