Minimum requirements and experience:
- 2 years of hands-on practical experience actually working on HVAC and/or refrigeration installations fault-finding servicing repairs and maintenance not only design sales or supervisory work
- Comfortable working independently on-site switching between tasks and staying level-headed when resolving breakdowns under time pressure
- Strong confident client-facing communication; this role has regular direct contact with the end customers own staff
- A valid drivers licence (South African Code 08 / equivalent to Dutch category B)
- Willing and able to relocate to the Netherlands long-term and work under a Dutch employment contract sponsored via the kennismigrant (highly skilled migrant) scheme
- Red Seal Trade Certificate / a passed QCTO Trade Test in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or a closely related mechanical/electrical trade such as Millwright or Fitting and Turning
- N4N6 National Certificate (TVET college) in Refrigeration Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent University of Technology)
- Any other recognised South African trade or technical qualification relevant to HVAC refrigeration or industrial mechanical work
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned preventive maintenance and inspections on HVAC and refrigeration installations for example air handling units chillers compressors condensers cooling and ventilation systems
- Diagnosing and repairing faults and breakdowns on mechanical electrical and refrigerant-circuit components working independently and deciding on the spot how to fix the problem
- Ordering the parts and materials needed for a job directly without needing signoff for routine purchases
- Logging completed work and reporting digitally (via phone/tablet) to the contract team
- Dealing directly with the clients on-site staff agreeing when work will be carried out explaining findings and answering technical questions in the moment
- Taking part in a rotating call-out/stand-by rota roughly one week in every few weeks and being reachable to respond to breakdowns during evenings and weekends in that week
- Coordinating daily and weekly planning with the contract administrator and service coordinator
- Bringing in and briefing subcontractors or colleagues for larger or more complex maintenance jobs
