Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labour materials and equipment during both the tendering and project execution stages;
• Assisting in the preparation of tenders budgets procurement plans engineering documentation drawings and technical submittals;
• Conducting site surveys in relation to prospective and ongoing projects;
• Designing costing commissioning and supporting HVAC and other mechanical systems;
• Sourcing local and international suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment;
• Providing technical advice on the installation operation and maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems;
• Preparing purchase requisitions and coordinating procurement requirements;
• Monitoring site progress carrying out site visits and reporting on project status and material usage;
• Liaising with the Construction Office regarding amendments to approved mechanical and HVAC drawings and specifications;
• Providing technical support to site teams during installation testing and commissioning of mechanical systems;
• Assisting in the training and development of draughtspersons and technicians;
• Preparing regular and ad hoc reports and supporting the Division Manager in the recruitment and development of team members;
• Keeping up to date with industry developments suppliers products materials and engineering best practices.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate should:

• Hold a relevant qualification at MQF Level 6 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering;
• Possess a sound technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services;
• Be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
• Experience with AutoCAD or other engineering design software will be considered an asset;
• Be organised detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities;
• Be able to work under pressure and meet defined deadlines;
• Be self-motivated proactive and able to work on own initiative;
• Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
