Job Description: Dance Teacher
Position: Dance Teacher
Role Overview Responsible for planning delivering and assessing dance instruction across grade levels developing students physical growth movement skills and confidence while fostering discipline teamwork and school representation through dance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver weekly lesson plans unit plans and long-term plans as required by the Principal
- Teach dance skills body management and movement concepts to support students physical and personal development
- Create and manage a well-disciplined school dance team
- Coordinate dance programs for school events including National & Liberation Day celebrations
- Administer assessments per the academic program and communicate student progress to parents regularly
- Maintain professional competence through in-service training staff meetings and self-directed development
- Support fellow teaching staff during short leaves of absence
- Identify and mentor talented students/teachers for dance-related programs and events
Individual Goals
- Create and sustain a well-disciplined school dance team
- Maintain high standards of classroom discipline student behavior and conduct
- Meet curriculum and developmental goals outlined for the year
- Participate in after-school dance practice sessions workshops and school-wide events/assemblies
Reports
- Submit weekly lesson plans
- Submit Year-at-a-Glance/long-range plans at the beginning of the academic year
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Dance or relevant performing arts field or equivalent teaching qualification
- 14 years of teaching/choreography experience preferably in a school setting
- Transferable visa required; immediate joining preferred
