We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Dental Assistant / Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support a clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced dental environment. This role involves assisting dentists during procedures maintaining treatment rooms educating patients and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards. The ideal candidate is organized customer-focused and experienced in dental assisting procedures with strong communication and technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Dental Assistant Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain treatment rooms according to clinical protocols
Welcome comfort seat and prepare patients for procedures
Assist dentists chairside during treatments and procedures
Sterilize and organize dental instruments and equipment
Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays)
Mix and prepare dental materials
Fabricate temporary restorations and polish removable appliances
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care
Maintain accurate patient records and charting documentation
Ensure compliance with infection control and safety regulations
Maintain CPR certification and emergency preparedness protocols
Support overall clinic operations and teamwork
EFDA Responsibilities
Place and finish dental restorations (fillings)
Take impressions for crowns bridges and diagnostic models
Fabricate and place temporary crowns and bridges
Perform coronal polishing and fluoride treatments
Apply sealants and desensitizing agents
Assist with restorative prosthodontic and endodontic procedures
Prepare trays and monitor clinical inventory
Provide post-treatment care instructions to patients
Coordinate patient flow and assist front office operations as needed
Required Skills & Experience
12 years of dental assisting experience preferred
Strong understanding of restorative dental procedures and materials
Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Experience
EFDA experience preferred
Education Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant programORMinimum six (6) months of hands-on Dental Assistant experience
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
CPR Certification/Card
Six-hour X-ray Training Certification
EFDA certification (for EFDA role)
