Job Summary:
To collect and account for payments of meals; to manage inventory; to oversee student workers; and to provide back-up and support for secondary manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform data entry for point of sale including meal applications inventory and ordering etc
Handle all change funds
Balance point of sale system; prepare bank deposits and related paperwork
Create and maintain various reports as required to ensure accuracy
Direct student workers as necessary
Consistent and regular attendance is essential to this position
Assist in production and service of school meals; assist in the training of staff; and assist manager in conducting accurate monthly inventories
Assist manager as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the kitchen
Regular and on-time attendance required
Set up cash drawers
Accept prepayment on meal accounts
Monitor and edit TCP timekeeping when needed
Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have or obtain within 30 days Maricopa County Food Service Worker card
Money handling and cash balancing experience
Skills & Competencies:
Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate

Average test battery with excellent math ability
Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word Excel etc)
Ability to organize prioritize and meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions; ability to perform multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students parents and staff
Ability to stand for long periods of time and to perform frequent reaching stooping and lifting of up to forty-seven pounds
Ability to assume responsibility in managers absence
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Typically indoors working in a kitchen or serving area
Fast-Paced Environment Especially during meal service times when many students are being served quickly
Works closely with other cafeteria staff including cooks servers and supervisors
Regularly interacts with students school staff and sometimes parents
May need to stand for the majority of their shift
Using a cash register handling money and processing meal transactions
May need to lift trays food supplies or cash register drawers (typically up to 25-30 lbs)
