Job Summary

ional Information (Include duties and tasks specific to this position)	Upward Bound Program Counselor Instruction Start Date:June 09 2026 Instruction End Date:July 21 2026 Days:Monday - Friday Location:Tidewater Community College Hours:8:30 AM - 1:30 PM Counselors will work with Upward Bound students to promote educational aspiration and performance; lead small groups including planning and facilitating educational cultural and recreational events; maintain communication with academic staff regarding students progress in classes; provide tutoring and advisement to individuals and groups of students. Excellent people skills are required and experience supervising youth is preferred. Experience leading small groups and tutoring is preferred. Qualifications: (1) Current faculty staff and/or student attending a local college or target school teacher or guidance counselor; (2) Knowledge of and/or experience working with high school students in summer program environment; (3) Preference given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming economic social and academic barriers similar to the students.
