The RPN is responsible for initiation monitoring and discontinuation of hemodialysis treatments of in-centre patients. As a member of the inter-professional team providing person-centered care the RPN will complete patient assessments health teaching & family counselling documentation set-up/monitoring & trouble shooting of hemodialysis machines and respond to rapid changes in the patients hemodynamic status within the scope of practice for a hemodialysis RPN in partnership with the RNs. The RPN will play an active role in the unit on quality improvement/research project teams.
Qualifications/Skills
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current B.C.L.S. Certificate required
1 year current hemodialysis experience required
2 yaear acute care experience preferred
1 year Gambro Artis hemodialysis machine use preferred
Post-graduate course in Nephrology or willingness to complete the advanced training and education within 1 year of being hired
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong team building and conflict resolution skills
Excellent patient assessment skills
Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Commitment to person-centred care concepts principles along with demonstrated ability to work as a member of an inter-professional team
