A well-established public entity defense practice is seeking a Senior Trial Attorney to handle complex civil litigation matters involving government and public agency clients in California. This role is highly focused on courtroom advocacy trial strategy and direct representation of public entities in high-exposure matters.
Attorneys in this role will work closely with government clients and manage litigation through all phases with significant responsibility in trial work and case strategy. The position is suited for an experienced litigator who is confident in the courtroom and capable of handling matters from inception through verdict.
Core Responsibilities
Manage civil litigation matters from inception through trial and verdict
Handle discovery depositions and motion practice
Prepare and argue motions in limine
Conduct jury selection and try cases to verdict (jury and bench trials)
Draft pleadings briefs and other legal documents
Perform legal research and case analysis
Interview clients and witnesses and maintain case communications
Attend hearings mediations and arbitrations
Provide ongoing case updates to clients
Represent public entities in civil litigation matters
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 10 years of civil litigation experience
First-chair experience in at least 10 jury trials and 5 bench trials to verdict in California
Strong knowledge of the California Evidence Code and civil procedure
Experience representing public entities or government clients preferred
Active California Bar license in good standing
J.D. from an accredited law school
Compensation Structure
Salary: $200000 $250000 (DOE)
Annual billable hours bonus program
