The Prince Georges County Food Equity Council (FEC) formed in 2013 is a local food policy council that works to improve the Countys food system by supporting residents ability to grow sell and access healthy foods. The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) serves as FECs backbone organization and fiscal sponsor.
The FEC is seeking a part-time Food Systems Senior Coordinator to support and help manage a portfolio of initiatives spanning food access local agriculture and community-based food system efforts. This role combines coordination and project management with responsibility for maintaining momentum across key priorities supporting partner engagement and ensuring consistent follow-through across the Councils work.
Primary Responsibilities
Cross-Project Coordination and Project Management:
Plan implement and monitor projects or programs including defining scope deliverables and milestones while allocating resources budgets and timeliness accordingly. Manage day-to-day communications meetings and follow-ups across initiatives. Maintain work plans and track progress across FEC priorities ensuring alignment with timelines and deliverables. Identify and help problem-solve gaps delays or coordination challenges across initiatives. Provide guidance and coordination support to partner staff working on related food system efforts. Encourage alignment across projects and partners.
Communications and Administrative Coordination:
Serve as a spokesperson for the FEC and actively participate in local and regional food system-focused coalitions and working groups. Develop testimony and draft legislation in collaboration with County Council members partners and Steering Committee members as needed and testify at hearings. Oversee routine communications including partner updates announcements and listserv management. Maintain website content and shared communication platforms. Ensure organized systems for documents contacts and internal tracking.
Fundraising and Resource Coordination:
Lead fundraising efforts including proposal development donor tracking outreach and coordination. Track grant deadlines and develop grant reports. Develop budgets and oversee the revenue and expenditure tracking of grants and contracts.
Qualifications
Five plus (5) years of experience in food systems agriculture public health nonprofit or community-based work. Experience coordinating or managing projects involving multiple stakeholders. Strong organizational financial and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience with budget management including developing budgets and tracking systems and overseeing the revenue and expenditure tracking of grants and contracts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to synthesize information clearly. Demonstrated professional and political aptitude and diplomacy. Demonstrated commitment to equity and community-centered approaches.
Preferred:
Experience working with food assistance providers farmers and/or local food supply chains. Experience with grant writing and proposal development. Experience facilitating group processes such as committees or community coalitions.
Experience working with state or local government and elected officials. Familiarity with Prince Georges County or the broader DC-MD-VA region. Experience working with or alongside local government. Bilingual (Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in the County).

Proactive organized and solutions oriented. Comfortable collaborating with volunteers and partner organizations to achieve goals. Able to navigate a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
$60 - $60 an hour
Compensation This is a contractor position estimated at 6075 hours per month depending on scope and available funding. This position is ongoing but contingent upon continued funding.
Location Position is remote however requires local travel within the DMV and within Prince Georges County Maryland. Use of office space in the County is also available.
