SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Full Time Special Education Teacher at Mill Creek Middle School. The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting students with disabilities and will be tasked with designing instruction and adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of students during the learning process.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate grade level certification and Special Education Endorsement required
Must be proficient and knowledgeable in Special Education
Must be able to provide flexible stable and a pleasant teaching environment while maintaining discipline that is not oppressive to the learner
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations and modifications in the general education setting
Monitor and track student progress adjusting instruction and interventions as necessary
Regularly communicate with parents and guardians to provide updates on student profess and seek feedback
Attend IEP meetings and other student support-related meetings
Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided
Provide Specially Designed Instructions based on students IEP goals and objectives
Demonstrate knowledge and accuracy in completing IEPs and tracking progress
Support a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
Utilize assessments and data to inform instruction and track student progress
Integrate technology into instructional practices
Create a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction
Ability to use evaluative classroom procedures to improve instruction to become aware of the physical social emotional and mental developments of the learner and be concerned with the home-school-community relationship
Develop implement and revise positive behavior support plans
Exhibit Enthusiasm flexibility and collaborative teamwork with students parents teachers and administrators
Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (written verbal listening)
Demonstrate competencies specified in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s) certificate(s) approval(s) etc. and provide documentation to the Human Resource office before expiration date of said document(s).
