We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our laboratory team. This role is responsible for processing and screening cytologic specimens performing microscopic evaluations supporting fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and contributing to high-quality diagnostic laboratory services.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and laboratory quality.
This position requires working first shift five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Process and screen cytologic specimens according to established laboratory procedures
Screen microscopic slides for diagnostic evaluation and issue diagnostic reports on cytologic material
Provide final diagnostic reports on negative gynecologic cases and preliminary findings for cases requiring pathologist review
Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities
Maintain accurate workload and specimen documentation
Ensure proper identification and handling of all patient specimens throughout processing
Assist in fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and ensure specimen adequacy and quality
Process cytologic specimens independently in the absence of cytoprep technicians
Adhere to all infection prevention and safety protocols including bloodborne and airborne pathogen procedures
Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and engineering controls
Participate in orientation and training of students new employees and other staff as assigned
Maintain professional competency through continuing education and self-study
Support efficient laboratory operations and adjust scheduling as needed to meet workload demands
Demonstrate age-appropriate care and specimen collection techniques across all patient populations
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Cytotechnology Biology Life Sciences or related field
Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program
American Society for Clinical Pathology Cytotechnologist (CT) certification or equivalent required
Strong technical and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical laboratory setting
