Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our team within the construction subcontracting industry. This role is responsible for sourcing negotiating and procuring materials equipment and services required to support project execution. The ideal candidate will bring prior purchasing experience within the construction or manufacturing sectors and possess strong organizational and negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure materials tools and equipment in alignment with project specifications and timelines
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers vendors and manufacturers
Negotiate pricing contracts and delivery terms to achieve cost savings and ensure timely delivery
Collaborate with project managers estimators and field teams to forecast material needs
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal teams to avoid shortages or overstocking
Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement or cost reduction
Ensure compliance with company policies safety standards and contractual obligations
Track and document purchases maintain accurate records and prepare reports as needed
Resolve issues related to delays quality concerns or discrepancies with orders
Qualifications
Previous experience in purchasing procurement or supply chain management within construction or manufacturing industries
Strong understanding of construction materials equipment and supply chain processes
Proven negotiation and vendor management skills
Ability to read and interpret project plans specifications and purchase orders
Excellent organizational communication and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Construction Management or a related field
Experience working with subcontractors or within project-based environments
Familiarity with ERP systems or construction management software
Work Environment This position operates primarily in an office setting with occasional interaction with job sites vendors and warehouses. The role may require coordination across multiple projects and tight deadlines.
