The Buyer is responsible for executing day-to-day procurement activities supporting power generation facilities. This role involves managing purchase orders sourcing suppliers running RFQs and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services while maintaining compliance and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Convert approved purchase requisitions into accurate purchase orders
Identify and evaluate suppliers; conduct RFQs and pricing analysis
Compare quotes and perform total cost analysis
Communicate with suppliers on order status lead times and issue resolution
Align with strategic sourcing agreements and internal procurement policies
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and timelines
Support supplier onboarding and safety qualification processes
Track deliveries resolve invoice issues and ensure smooth procure-to-pay cycle
Maintain and update blanket/outline agreements and pricing
Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and documentation standards
Analyze recurring spend patterns and support sourcing initiatives
Assist in outage planning and project-based procurement activities
Working Conditions
Onsite role at a power plant and office environment
Occasional overtime during outages or special projects
Travel required to nearby plant locations
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
5 years of procurement/buying experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis reporting)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree (Business Supply Chain Engineering or related field)
5 7 years of experience in sourcing/buying
Experience in power generation manufacturing or industrial environments
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
ISM certification (e.g. CPSM)
Key Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills
Experience with tools like Power BI is a plus
