Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients pre- and post-surgery
Develop and implement individualized care plans
Assist in surgical procedures and provide intraoperative support
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
Educate patients and families on postoperative care and recovery
Collaborate with surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
Stay current with advancements in cardiothoracic surgery practices
Requirements
Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Virginia
Associate degree in Nursing or related field; Bachelors degree preferred
Experience in cardiothoracic surgery or critical care environments
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of current best practices in cardiothoracic care
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
First assist on CABG valves heart transplants aortic dissections thoracotomies ECMO cannulations and MCS implantations
ECMO transplant and mechanical circulatory device experience preferred
Support Staff: 5 ICU APPs 7 OR APPs
EMR: Epic
Paid travel & expenses
Must be board-certified
