Job Summary
Riggins Company located in Hampton VA is seeking a full-time structural fitter/fabricator to and nbsp;
join our growing and exciting team. We are a custom steel fabricator specializing in the design and nbsp;
and fabrication of major structural components supporting the US Navy. The successful and nbsp;
candidate must be able to read blueprints and be responsible for assembling fitting and and nbsp;
aligning metal components to build structures such as frames platforms piping supports and
heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints drawings and specifications
Lay out and measure materials using precision tools (tape measures squares levels) and nbsp;
Cut shape and fit metal components using hand tools and power equipment and nbsp;
Align and position structural parts prior to welding or bolting and nbsp;
Tack weld components when required (depending on certification) and nbsp;
Inspect fit-up to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances and nbsp;
Operate equipment such as grinders torches and hoists
Follow safety standards (OSHA) and company procedures and nbsp;
Work collaboratively with welders engineers and supervisors and nbsp;
Required Skills and amp; Qualifications
Ability to read technical drawings and weld symbols
Strong understanding of structural fabrication and layout techniques
Proficiency with measuring tools and fabrication equipment and nbsp;
Knowledge of metal properties and tolerances
Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions and nbsp;
Basic math and geometry skills and nbsp;
Welding experience (preferred but not always required)
