Principal DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction MD.

What Youll Do

As a Principal DevOps Engineer you will lead the design automation deployment and maintenance of scalable secure and highly available infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Lead DevOps initiatives across development testing staging and production environments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management solutions using tools such as Ansible and Puppet
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes Docker and cloud-based environments
• Develop automation scripts and tools using Python Ruby Java or similar languages
• Support software development teams through the full application lifecycle
• Architect scalable resilient and high-availability solutions
• Monitor system performance troubleshoot issues and improve operational efficiency
• Serve as a technical leader within Agile development teams
• Collaborate across engineering security and operations teams to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 10 years of DevOps Systems Engineering or related experience
• Strong expertise with:
  • Git and version control best practices
  • Linux administration (RHEL CentOS)
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Jenkins and/or Bamboo
  • AWS cloud environments
  • Infrastructure Automation (Ansible Puppet Chef)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Python Go Java Ruby C or similar programming languages
• Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN)
• Experience supporting Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
• Elasticsearch (Kibana a plus)
• Redis ActiveMQ Memcache or similar technologies

Security Clearance:

• Current/Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

The projected compensation range for this position is $200000.00-$220000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate including but not limited to Contract Wage Determination relevant work experience skills and competencies that align to the specified role geographic location education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories
