FIELD TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST- WASTEWATER MAINTENANCE

Summary:The Municipal Services & Operations (MSO) Field Technician Specialist Maintenance plays a vital role in keeping the City of Lawrences wastewater treatment systems operating safely and reliably. This position is wellsuited for experienced technicians or individuals seeking a handson career in a stable technical and meaningful field. The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting process equipment supporting system upgrades and ensuring continuous and compliant plant operations. Technicians in this role contribute directly to protecting public health environmental quality and essential city :Maintain troubleshoot and repair a wide range of process equipment at wastewater treatment plants and pump stations; electrical HVAC pumps and preventive maintenance and technical evaluations to keep systems operating efficiently and within regulatory mechanical electrical and instrumentation issues using technical knowledge and diagnostic and oversee contractors performing work on facility equipment and with equipment performance assessments and asset management in system upgrades and capital improvements by reviewing plans coordinating installations and providing technical heavy equipment tools vehicles and HVAC systems as to emergency or afterhours issues to maintain continuous 24/7 plant safe work practices follow safety procedures and help ensure a clean and organized working :High school diploma or GED background in maintenance mechanical systems electrical systemsHVAC or related fields year of training in chemistry biology maintenance electrical mechanical process automation treatment operations engineering technology industrial maintenance or one year of direct wastewater treatment plant experience to diagnose equipment issues read technical materials and adapt to new technologies and hold a valid Kansas drivers license and be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL).Must have or be able to obtain an ABC Class III Maintenance certification within one to work in varying weather conditions perform physical tasks and respond to afterhours emergencies as problemsolving abilities mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and grow in a specialized : Please provide three (3) references with the Information:Health/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance: Various dependent on coverage levels available; FREE Well Care Clinic through LMH; other wellness benefits/perksPaid Time Off:12 Vacation days 12 Sick days accrued per year; 2 days Personal Leave 9 Paid Holidays Caregiver LeaveRetirement: Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS)
