As a Respiratory Therapist at Baystate Wing Hospital youll care for adult and pediatric patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Working under the direction of a physician youll perform diagnostic evaluations administer therapeutic treatments and play a vital role in improving patient outcomes.

As a Respiratory Therapist you will:

• Perform comprehensive cardiopulmonary assessments and diagnostic testing
• Evaluate diagnose and treat adult and pediatric patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
• Administer respiratory therapies including:
  • Medical gas therapy
  • Aerosol and humidity therapy
  • Airway clearance techniques
  • Artificial airway management
  • Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Vascular catheter insertion management and care
  • Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
• Perform pulmonary function testing blood gas analysis sleep studies and other diagnostic procedures
• Assess patient response to therapy and adjust treatment plans within established protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians nurses and the interdisciplinary care team to develop individualized care plans
• Participate in disease management for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
• Support hemodynamic monitoring and patient stabilization
• Assist with discharge planning and patient education
• Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue events providing advanced respiratory support
• Maintain respiratory therapy equipment and ensure compliance with quality safety infection prevention and regulatory standards

Typically a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidates relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
