The Opportunity:
The Morse School is seeking a talented grade 1 teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community. The successful candidate will have experience planning implementing and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Morse School and be fully committed to continuously learning improving reflecting and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with all team members including but not limited to special educators instructional coaches paraprofessionals interventionists and other support personnel
Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs
Integrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe caring and active learning community
Partner with families and include them in the students learning and development as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school
Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Grade 1 Teacheryou will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:
At least two years of full-time classroom instruction
Massachusetts State Early Childhood certification is required
Experience working in an urban educational setting including the ability to work successfully with students colleagues and families from diverse ethnic cultural and socio-economic backgrounds is preferred
A strong work ethic alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel
