Position Summary
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Radiology is seeking an Imaging Technologist or Senior Imaging Technologist in our CT division to perform and provide instruction in specialized diagnostic radiography procedures using advanced imaging equipment. This position is responsible for closely monitoring patients throughout examinations while ensuring high-quality imaging addition the Imaging Technologist performs general radiography procedures across a variety of clinical settings including Adult and Pediatric Radiology the Emergency Department Operating Rooms Fluoroscopy and Orthopedic Clinics.
Position Responsibilities
Operates adjusts and manipulates computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic angiographic magnetic resonance systems and multiple modalities of other general diagnostic equipment.
Maintains operates and trouble-shoots and reports equipment failures.
Instructs trainees students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
Explains examination process to patients.
Ensures patients welfare and assists physicians with medical procedures
Performs patient care techniques including skin preparation I.V. placement vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support; prepares and administers contrast material to patients.
Maintains records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
Plans daily regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
Participates in on-call coverage.
Assists with inventory ordering supplies and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital departmental and clinical unit standards.
Participates in phantom human and/or animal research.
Maintains knowledge of technical developments software updates and related subjects by attending meetings continuing education programs and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
Performs quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
Instructs and/or evaluates the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
Maintains effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.

Education Requirements
Consideration for the Senior Imaging Technologist position requires the following:
A Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Consideration for the Imaging Technologist position position requires the following:
Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education
Experience Requirements
Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
Certification Requirements
Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment
Desirable Qualifications
Previous work or clinical education experience in a level 1 Trauma center.
Previous work or clinical education experience in CT.
CT modality training.
CT certification or eligible.
