Job Summary
SAAS is delivering significant change programmes including the Core Systems Replacement (CSR) and Cloud Migration which fundamentally change how information and personal data are handled. This post exists specifically to support these programmes ensuring IM and data protection requirements are embedded into project design and delivery.
This is not a businessasusual IM role. It is a timelimited projectfocused post suited to an experienced IM / DP professional who enjoys working handson with project teams and helping delivery move forward safely and compliantly.
As Information Management Project Lead you will provide embedded practical support to delivery teams working alongside programme technical and business colleagues.

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Information Management & Data Protection Lead who can provide practical handson delivery support during a period of increased transformation activity. This is a specialist role suited to someone who is confident applying IM/DP principles within project environments and who can work proactively with delivery teams.
The post is fixedterm for 12 months and is focused on embedding robust information governance data protection requirements and data handling practices into new systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Your focus will be on projects and change activity supporting teams to:
- understand IM and DP requirements
- identify and manage information risks early
- apply proportionate controls within delivery timescales
You will not have line management responsibility or ownership of organisationwide policy. The emphasis is on project delivery assurance and enablement not central governance enforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
You will:
- Act as the dedicated IM and Data Protection point of contact for the Core Systems Replacement programme and related projects
- Support project teams to embed Data Protection by Design into system and process development
- Assist with the completion review and quality assurance of DPIAs data mapping and assurance documentation for projects
- Identify information risks arising from project activity and provide practical deliveryfocused advice
- Support consistent data governance arrangements within projects including clarity on data ownership retention and lawful processing
- Translate UK GDPR and IM requirements into clear actions that support delivery rather than delay it
- Work collaboratively with Information Management IT and Information Security colleagues to ensure aligned controls within projects
- Contribute to projectspecific guidance templates or approaches where required to support consistent delivery

Qualifications:
Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Data Protection Practitioner Certificate IRMS accreditation CIPP/E).
Experience:
Applicants must demonstrate
- Professional experience in information management data protection records management or data governance
- Working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 applied within project or operational contexts
- Experience supporting projects programmes or change initiatives rather than solely BAU activity
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple project workstreams
- Confidence providing clear proportionate and evidencebased IM / DP advice to project and nonspecialist colleagues
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working with delivery technical or transformation teams

Working pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. SAAS have a hybrid working arrangement with colleagues expected to attend the office (Saughton House Edinburgh) a minimum of 6 days per month.
SAAS have separate Public and Privilege holiday arrangements and are fully closed between Christmas and New Year.
