Introduction
We are seeking aField Application Engineer (Japan)to support and drive customer engagementswithinJapan. This is acustomer-facing technical individual contributor role responsible for enabling design wins by bridging customer requirements with MIPS product portfolio includingprocessor IP software toolsand custom silicon solutions.
Customer Technical Engagement
Act as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development phases
Support customer engineering teams in evaluating and adopting MIPS solutions. Provide hands-on technical guidance on: Processor IP integration Software toolchains development environments and System architecture considerations
Support technical discussions to secure project and design wins for: processor IP licenses software tools and custom silicon programs and solutions. Assist customers in transitioning from the evaluation to design execution phase
Solution Enablement Help Customers Understand and Utilize MIPS Value Proposition
Broad industry-leading portfolio of RISC-V processor IP
Open RISCV architecture flexibility multi-threaded high-performance compute
Functional safety-ready solutions
System-level configurations for optimized performance power area and cost
Technical Problem Solving
Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues across hardware and software domains during the pre-sales engagement phase
Work closely with internal engineering teams to address and resolve complex challenges during the pre-sales engagement
Ensure timely resolution of customer issues to maintain positive momentum
Collaboration with Sales & Business Development
Partner with Business Development to support opportunity creation through closure
Provide technical input to evaluations proposals RFIs and customer presentations
Translate customer requirements into actionable feedback for product and engineering teams
Ecosystem & Market Support
Support engagement with ecosystem partners (software EDA design services)
Participation in customer workshops demos and industry events
Help position MIPS solutions within the broader semiconductor ecosystem in Korea
Required Qualifications
Bachelors/Masters degree in an engineering discipline or similar
2-5 years in Field Application Engineering Applications Engineering or Design Engineering
Experience in Semiconductor IP SoC/ASIC development or embedded systems Industrial A&D or IDM electronics or related markets
Proven track record supporting customer engagements and design wins
Familiarity with: Processor architectures Embedded software development (compilers SDKs OS) and System-level design and integration
Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate independently in a field-based role
Hands-on technical mindset with strong debugging capability
Ability to bridge technical depth with customer business needs
Fluent in English (Written & Verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RISCV ecosystem or CPU IP integration
Experience with custom silicon or SoC development flows
Understanding of functional safety standards or design requirements in A&D
