Real Estate Accountant

WHAT YOULL DO 

As Real Estate Accountant you independently own and manage real estate accounting ensuring accurate lease-related accounting in compliance with IFRS 16 supporting the full financial lifecycle of Expansion and driving continuous improvement in ways of working across markets. 

• Own and perform all rent and lease-related accounting activities including bookings payments accruals deferrals and reconciliations 
• Support the full financial lifecycle of Expansion including Project accounting CapEx & OpEx accounting support and fixed asset accounting (capitalization depreciation asset write-offs remaining book value) 
• Ensure accurate interpretation of lease agreements and proper accounting of obligations in compliance with IFRS 16; maintain the lease abstracting system with proper right-of-use asset calculations 
• Manage the annual group audit and all lease-related requests providing sufficient documentation to substantiate P&L and Balance Sheet positions 
• Ensure the lease portfolio is up to date and resolve differences in lease interpretation with landlord counterparts or the legal team 
• Collaborate with the Legal teams sharing information resolving issues and identifying potentially problematic lease terms and language. 
• Act as business partner on special projects advising on ways of working reporting and selling that have the potential to impact fulfilling our lease obligations. 
• Act as the accounting partner for the Expansion function upholding Financial Governance & Internal Controls and providing month-end support and audit coordination 
• Develop and implement new ways of working leveraging technology systems and integrations to streamline and standardize reporting

WHO YOULL WORK WITH 

Youll work closely with the Expansion function partnering with Legal Accounting and other relevant stakeholders across the lease lifecycle. 

This role reports to the Expansion Manager. 

WHO YOU ARE 

We are looking for people who 

• Hold a Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or equivalent relevant education and are a Qualified Accountant (ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent) 
• Bring 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience 
• Have a complete understanding of accounting principles lease accounting and IFRS 16 
• Are fluent in legal and lease concepts and terminology with the ability to read lease agreements and translate key terms into accounting implications 
• Are proficient in Microsoft Office expert in Excel; experience with SAP and Tango is a plus

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills and hands-on reconciliation capability 
• Able to work in a fast-paced time-sensitive environment 
• Excellent communicators able to follow up effectively with business partners at all levels
