Department Overview

The Data Center SSD Firmware team develops advanced embedded firmware solutions for Microns next-generation storage products. The team focuses on delivering high-performance and reliable firmware for enterprise and cloud environments working closely with hardware validation and system engineering teams.

Position Overview

As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology Inc. you will build high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will support the evaluation development testing debugging and failure analysis of firmware for next-generation memory controllers and Data Center Solid State Drives (SSD).
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve product development issues triage failures and isolate firmware and system-level issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop test and debug embedded firmware for Data Center SSD controllers and memory systems
• Analyze firmware behavior troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify reproduce and resolve product issues
• Contribute to firmware validation integration and performance optimization activities
• Participate in code reviews bug tracking and continuous improvement of development processes

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience or academic background in embedded firmware development
• Programming experience in Python and familiarity with at least one system-level language (e.g. C/C)
• Knowledge of scripting languages development tools and debugging environments
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with storage systems (SSD HDD) or interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe SATA or SAS
• Exposure to NAND flash or other non-volatile memory technologies
• Knowledge of firmware debugging failure analysis and performance profiling
• Experience with low-level programming (e.g. C C assembly Rust)
• Exposure to embedded systems and interaction with hardware components

The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay in for this position full-time is:

Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range displayed oneach job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salariesof the position. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors including knowledge skills experience tenure and relevanteducation or training.
