Staff Nurse
Job Summary
Provide safe effective and patient-centred nursing care in accordance with hospital policies NMBI requirements legal standards and professional guidelines including assessment care planning implementation and evaluation from admission to discharge.
Maintain accurate confidential and timely patient documentation complete nursing care plans and records and ensure all handovers reports and escalations are communicated using the approved ISBAR tool.
Administer medications safely in line with hospital policy including the appropriate storage and recording of controlled drugs and perform IV cannulation in accordance with hospital procedures.
Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients relatives colleagues and other healthcare professionals responding promptly and calmly to emergencies and escalating concerns appropriately.
Work independently with minimal supervision deputise for and support the Clinical Nurse Manager when required and coordinate delegate and monitor staff workload according to departmental needs.
Support quality improvement and best practice by mentoring student nurses and new staff contributing to hospital accreditation initiatives reporting adverse incidents through the appropriate systems and participating in performance review and professional development.
Promote the efficient use of departmental resources by maintaining adequate stock levels monitoring standards of care and service delivery identifying areas requiring corrective action and undertaking other duties as directed by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Registered General Nurse with current registration on the live register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 2 years relevant nursing experience.
Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Good IT skills are desirable.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification where applicable to the area of work.
