Meet the team
We are responsible for ensuring the high quality of RTÉs output across multiple platforms overseeing the preparation review and/or output of RTÉs channels and content ensuring that content is seamlessly delivered across all platforms to the highest standards. This position is crucial to maintaining high-quality content standards and addressing any technical or editorial discrepancies as they arise.

About the role
Reporting to the Platform Control Supervisor key responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring all content meets platform-specific requirements regulatory obligations and RTÉs editorial and operational standards.
  • Collaborating with editorial production scheduling and technical teams to deliver content accurately efficiently and on time across multiple platforms.
  • Supporting the successful output of channels and services including associated accessibility services such as subtitling and audio description.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate metadata to maximise content discoverability audience engagement and cross-platform opportunities.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate workflows supporting greater efficiency scale and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitoring output and proactively resolving technical operational or content-related issues to minimise disruption and ensure the best possible audience experience.
  • Supporting the ongoing evolution of RTÉs media supply chain by embracing new technologies workflows and services including cloud-based and AI-enabled solutions..
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all relevant technological operational editorial and compliance requirements within your area of responsibility.
  • Adhering to and acting in accordance with all emergency and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) procedures.

About You
You are an experienced broadcast or media professional with a proven track record of ensuring the smooth accurate and compliant delivery of content across linear and digital platforms.

You will bring:
  • Strong technical expertise and a thorough understanding of broadcasting operations media systems standards and industry regulations.
  • Proven experience of output workflows scheduling processes and content delivery systems.
  • A detailed understanding of the regulatory and editorial framework governing broadcast and on-demand content including audience protection advertising and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams to ensure content is delivered accurately on time and to the highest standards.
  • The ability to anticipate potential issues make sound decisions under pressure and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • A meticulous approach to detail with the confidence to identify assess and resolve compliance editorial or operational risks before they impact audiences.
  • Strong digital literacy and a willingness to embrace new technologies systems and platform requirements in an evolving media landscape.
  • A continuous improvement mindset actively seeking opportunities to enhance workflows improve efficiencies and contribute innovative solutions.

This role may require flexible working outside of core hours to oversee live events operational obligations or programming overnight or across global time zones e.g. election coverage award ceremonies clock change etc.

The panel will be formed for a period of one year as a supporttothe Platform Control team in particular covering planned and unplanned absences. It may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise.

Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel may be contracted on a casual irregular contract basis* and paid at an appropriate rate on the Platform Editor salary scale between 22.59 and 31.73 gross per hour (subject to relevant skills knowledge and experience).
