Job Summary




RecruitNet International Ltd is a specialist healthcare recruitment agency providing domestic and international staffing solutions across hospitals nursing homes home care and community care services.

We are currently recruiting for the position of Decontamination Assistant - Endoscopy for a hospital based in Westmeath Ireland.


Responsibilities

  • Perform manual cleaning leak testing flushing and reprocessing of endoscopes in accordance with established protocols and competency requirements.

  • Operate Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AERs) safely and ensure appropriate drying storage handling and separation of clean and contaminated equipment.

  • Maintain accurate electronic traceability records including endoscope serial numbers patient linkage cycle parameters and documentation required for audits and inspections.

  • Adhere to infection prevention PPE chemical safety environmental cleaning and quality standards; promptly report incidents equipment faults and protocol breaches.

  • Monitor stock levels and support the safe storage of detergents disinfectants and consumables as well as equipment maintenance validation and environmental standards.

  • Work collaboratively with the Endoscopy team and Decontamination Lead communicate effectively regarding scope availability and turnaround times and participate in mandatory training audits and ongoing professional development.



Requirements
  • QQI/FETAC Level 5 Healthcare qualification is desirable with a relevant RIMD Decontamination qualification preferred or willingness to undertake appropriate training.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare endoscopy decontamination or similar clinical environment is desirable.

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and commitment to infection prevention patient safety appropriate PPE use environmental cleaning and safe chemical handling.

  • Maintains high standards of quality and governance through accurate documentation adherence to protocols participation in audits and timely reporting of incidents or equipment faults.

  • Communicates effectively with the Decontamination Lead CNM2 Endoscopy team and wider multidisciplinary team to support safe and efficient workflow.

  • Demonstrates excellent organisational time management prioritisation and basic IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate electronic traceability records.

  • Displays a professional responsible reliable and safety-focused approach with flexibility to respond to changing service demands and a willingness to accept supervision feedback and ongoing training.

Required Skills:
