Job Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Operation of a variety of specialised tools and machinery including milling machines lathes cranes hand tools power tools forklifts etc.
- Assist with manufacturing/building and troubleshooting of large press tools for the automotive industry.
- Understanding and analysis of technical drawings and diagrams.
- Completion of detailed tasks with high accuracy and careful handling.
- Working with and learning from experienced tool and die makers.
- Passing written and practical exams on all off-the-job phases.
- Training will be provided for all of the above. Adhere to agreed training plan as required for effective performance of the position.
- Attend all scheduled training as deemed required by Autolaunch.
- Attendance and reporting at the daily/weekly tooling department / group meetings if required.
- Follow the departmental Safe Systems of Work (SSW).
- Report to workstation on time at the start of shift and on return from allowed break periods.
- Remain at workstation until end of shift or until an adequate handover has been completed.
- Adhere to established Autolaunch quality standards.
- Support Autolaunch by making continuous improvement suggestions.
- Understand and adhere to the Autolaunch handbook and all policies and procedures contained within.
- Employees attending other plants are representatives of Autolaunch and should adhere to the Autolaunch policies and other facilities rules policies and procedures.
- Compliance with Magnas Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Complete all relevant MAFACT and audit documentation as required.
- Adhere to the principles of Magnas Employee Charter and Operational Principles.
- Faithfully and diligently perform any such task that is assigned to you by your leadhand supervisor or manager across all manufacturing processes.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere to all of Autolaunchs health safety and environmental policies.
- Abide by and promote all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations.
- Report any defects hazards and non-compliance items to the department leadhand(s)/ supervisor(s) /manager(s).
- Report any incident/accident to a first aider /lead hand /supervisor /manager.
- Abide by the operating procedures/work instructions/maintenance practices and procedures of any equipment or machinery used.
- Wear personal protective equipment as provided by Autolaunch.
- Responsible for inspections of respective equipment machinery and vehicles so as to ensure proper and safe operation (Preventative Maintenance Checklist).
- Responsibility to keep work area clean and adhere to housekeeping/5S standards.
- Participate and assist in any investigation where required.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Must meet SOLAS minimum entry requirements.
- English language fluency essential (written and spoken)
- To eligible for an apprenticeship you must be at least 16 years of age and you are expected to have a minimum grade of D in 5 subjects in the Junior Certificate or equivalent exam.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong capability in mathematics an advantage.
- Familiarity with engineering metalwork and/or drawing an advantage.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility is expected especially during busy periods.
- Ability to demonstrate good work practices including attendance timekeeping tidiness safety awareness quality awareness responsibility and a willingness to learn.
Additional Information
- Fixed term apprenticeship contract with potential of a permanent contract on successful completion of apprenticeship program.
- Must be eligible and willing to work the hours of day and afternoon shift.
- Overtime will be required at times.
Overseas/overnight travel may be required at times to off-site customer facilities.
