Wellhead Instrument Engineer
Job Summary
INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Wellhead Instrument Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team responsible for the maintenance troubleshooting testing and reliability of wellhead instrumentation and control systems. The role supports Wellhead Control Panels (WHCP) shutdown systems field instruments hydraulic/pneumatic controls RTU interfaces ESP/gas-lift systems and safe operation of remote wellhead facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead PM/CM troubleshooting calibration testing and maintenance of wellhead instrumentation and control systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Wellhead Control Panels (WHCP) hydraulic/pneumatic circuits valves actuators solenoids and control components.
- Verify ESD/shutdown functions permissives interlocks shutdown loops and fail-safe operation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pressure temperature flow level and other wellhead field instruments.
- Perform loop checks functional testing signal verification and calibration between field devices WHCP RTU PLC and control systems.
- Support RTU/SCADA interfaces and remote monitoring/control of wellhead facilities.
- Support instrumentation interfaces with ESP gas-lift chemical injection and other wellhead systems.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic pneumatic electrical and instrumentation faults including recurring remote-site failures.
- Support wellhead tie-ins commissioning start-up shutdown modifications and return-to-service activities.
- Verify hazardous-area instrumentation cabling glands junction boxes and installation integrity.
- Analyze failures and maintenance trends and recommend reliability improvements and permanent corrective actions.
- Review P&IDs loop drawings cause & effect datasheets WHCP documentation and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate with Operations Production Electrical Mechanical ICSS Engineering and OEM/vendor teams.
- Maintain test results calibration records failure reports maintenance history and CMMS documentation.
- Ensure compliance with PTW LOTO HSE process safety hazardous-area MOC and site requirements.
Requirements:
To Be Successful in This Role You Must Have:
- Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Control Electronics Electrical Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant oil & gas experience including at least 3 years in wellhead instrumentation/control systems.
- Strong experience with Wellhead Control Panels (WHCP) and wellhead shutdown/control systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems actuators valves solenoids and control circuits.
- Experience with pressure temperature flow level and other wellhead field instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of ESD/shutdown systems interlocks permissives cause & effect and fail-safe functions.
- Experience with RTU/PLC/SCADA interfaces remote monitoring and communication systems.
- Knowledge of ESP gas-lift chemical injection and related wellhead instrumentation interfaces.
- Competent in calibration loop checking functional testing troubleshooting and commissioning.
- Knowledge of hazardous-area requirements and Ex-certified instrumentation installations.
- Strong RCA troubleshooting reliability improvement and technical documentation skills.
- Experience working at remote wellhead/well-site facilities is highly desirable.
- Relevant OEM/WHCP training or certification is advantageous.
