Network Technician (Cable Network)
Job Summary
INTECH Process Automation is seeking a skilled Network Technician to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team responsible for the installation inspection maintenance troubleshooting and testing of industrial copper and fiber-optic network infrastructure. The role supports managed switches patch panels SFPs/media converters cable termination link testing hardware replacement and network documentation under approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform PM/CM inspection testing and maintenance of industrial copper and fibre-optic network infrastructure.
- Install terminate test and maintain copper/fiber cables patch panels connectors SFPs and media converters.
- Maintain and troubleshoot managed switches network ports cabinets and associated hardware.
- Perform cable continuity fibre testing link checks port diagnostics and connectivity verification.
- Troubleshoot network link failures communication faults damaged cables connectors and hardware.
- Replace approved switches SFPs media converters patch cords power supplies and network components.
- Support network commissioning equipment installation cable routing labelling port mapping and restoration activities.
- Perform basic network diagnostics and escalate complex switch routing or communication issues to the Network Engineer.
- Support restoration of approved network configurations and verify equipment operation after maintenance.
- Maintain accurate network topology cable schedules port mappings equipment tags and physical network records.
- Maintain network test equipment fibre tools termination tools spares and consumables.
- Coordinate with ICSS Instrumentation IT/OT Operations Electrical Engineering and OEM/vendor teams.
- Record test results cable/port changes equipment replacements defects and maintenance activities in CMMS.
- Comply with PTW LOTO HSE cybersecurity MOC and site requirements.
Requirements:
To Be Successful in This Role You Must Have:
- Technical Diploma/ITI in Instrumentation Electronics Automation Electrical IT or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant oil & gas/industrial experience including at least 3 years as a Network Technician.
- Hands-on experience with industrial Ethernet copper and fibre-optic networks.
- Competent in copper/fiber termination testing continuity checks and link troubleshooting.
- Experience with managed switches patch panels SFPs media converters network cabinets and ports.
- Knowledge of fibre-optic testing connectors patch cords cable routing labelling and physical network installation.
- Ability to perform basic network diagnostics port checks connectivity testing and fault isolation.
- Experience replacing network hardware and restoring approved configurations under engineering direction.
- Ability to maintain cable schedules port mappings equipment records and network documentation.
- Familiarity with OT/industrial network environments and cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with CMMS maintenance records test reports and defect reporting.
- Good understanding of PTW LOTO HSE and safe work practices.
- Relevant fibre-optic industrial networking Cisco or OEM training/certification is desirable.
