F&G System Technician
Job Summary
INTECH Process Automation is seeking a skilled F&G System Technician to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team responsible for hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance inspection calibration troubleshooting and functional testing of Fire & Gas detection and alarm systems. The role ensures reliable operation of detectors field devices wiring and associated equipment in compliance with approved procedures and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform PM/CM inspection cleaning calibration and functional testing of gas flame smoke and heat detectors.
- Conduct detector bump tests and calibration using certified test gases flame simulators and approved test equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot detectors junction boxes field wiring cables and supervised circuits.
- Perform loop checks signal verification and functional testing of F&G detection and alarm systems.
- Support testing of Cause & Effect voting logic alarms and associated executive actions under engineering direction.
- Inspect and maintain Ex-certified detectors glands enclosures junction boxes and field installations.
- Identify and troubleshoot detector faults wiring issues communication failures and abnormal conditions.
- Support approved F&G system impairments restoration and controlled return to service.
- Assist with commissioning replacement and installation of F&G field devices.
- Maintain test equipment calibration standards spare detectors and replacement components.
- Record as-found/as-left conditions calibration results test results defects and corrective actions.
- Complete CMMS work orders checklists calibration certificates and maintenance records.
- Report recurring failures unsafe conditions and installation deficiencies to the F&G Engineer.
- Coordinate with Operations Instrumentation ICSS HSE and Engineering teams during testing and maintenance.
- Comply with PTW LOTO HSE hazardous-area MOC and F&G impairment procedures.
Requirements:
To Be Successful in This Role You Must Have:
- Technical Diploma/ITI in Instrumentation Electronics Automation Electrical or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years experience in oil & gas petrochemical or comparable industrial facilities including at least 3 years as an F&G Technician.
- Hands-on experience with gas flame smoke and heat detectors.
- Experience in bump testing calibration loop checking and functional testing.
- Proficient in using certified test gases flame simulators and F&G test equipment.
- Knowledge of supervised circuits field wiring junction boxes and F&G system interfaces.
- Experience with Ex/hazardous-area installation and maintenance practices.
- Basic understanding of Cause & Effect voting logic alarms and F&G system operation.
- Ability to troubleshoot detectors wiring and field-device faults.
- Experience with CMMS calibration records and maintenance documentation.
- Good understanding of PTW LOTO HSE and safety-critical impairment requirements.
- F&G/OEM and hazardous-area certification or training is highly desirable.
