Job Summary

INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned F&G System Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The Engineer is responsible for the engineering maintenance strategy testing troubleshooting and integrity of Fire & Gas detection and protection systems. The role ensures reliable detection alarm and executive actions in accordance with functional safety hazardous-area and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead F&G system maintenance reliability and integrity activities for gas flame smoke and heat detection systems.
  • Develop and oversee calibration preventive maintenance proof-testing and functional-testing programs.
  • Verify detector coverage voting logic Cause & Effect alarm functions and executive actions.
  • Lead troubleshooting diagnostics and failure investigation/RCA for F&G system faults.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61508/61511 hazardous-area requirements and applicable site standards.
  • Review and approve F&G test procedures work methods maintenance strategies and functional test plans.
  • Manage safety-critical F&G impairments including risk assessment authorization compensatory measures and reinstatement.
  • Support and verify FAT SAT commissioning loop checks proof testing and functional testing.
  • Ensure correct integration of F&G systems with SIS/ESD DCS PLC SCADA PAGA deluge and other emergency systems.
  • Review detector diagnostics alarm trends failure history and system performance to identify reliability improvements.
  • Control approved F&G configuration changes logic modifications setpoints voting and Cause & Effect through MOC.
  • Support hazardous-area integrity of detectors junction boxes cabling glands enclosures and associated equipment.
  • Coordinate with Operations Maintenance HSE Process Safety Engineering OEMs and specialist vendors.
  • Maintain technical documentation including test records calibration certificates impairment records failure reports and CMMS close-out.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to F&G engineers technicians and maintenance personnel.
  • Support emergency troubleshooting and safe restoration of critical F&G functions.
  • Ensure compliance with PTW LOTO HSE MOC cybersecurity and F&G management procedures.

Requirements:

To Be Successful in This Role You Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Control Electronics Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in oil & gas petrochemical or industrial facilities including at least 5 years in F&G systems engineering.
  • Strong experience with gas flame smoke and heat detection systems.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508/61511 functional safety F&G voting and Cause & Effect.
  • Experience with F&G calibration proof testing functional testing and detector coverage assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous-area requirements and Ex-certified F&G equipment.
  • Experience integrating F&G with SIS/ESD DCS PLC SCADA PAGA deluge and emergency systems.
  • Proven capability in troubleshooting failure investigation and RCA.
  • Experience managing safety-critical impairments and controlled system modifications through MOC.
  • Knowledge of FAT/SAT commissioning and F&G system validation.
  • Strong technical documentation leadership and coordination skills.
  • Functional Safety certification/training such as TÜV or equivalent is highly desirable.
