Requirements
1. Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) Consultant to join an Application Management Support (AMS) engagement supporting global Trade Compliance Customs and Foreign Trade operations. The role covers end-to-end (E2E) support for import/export customs processes preference management restricted-party and product compliance screening sanctions handling export control licensing and related statutory/regulatory reporting on the SAP GTS platform (Compliance Management Customs Management and Risk Management modules).

The consultant will operate within an AMS model providing incident resolution minor enhancements change requests and continuous process support against agreed SLAs while collaborating with business trade-compliance teams IT and third-party data providers.

2. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide L2/L3 application support for SAP GTS across Customs Management Compliance Management and Risk Management (Legal Control / Sanctioned Party List Screening) modules.
  • Analyze troubleshoot and resolve incidents (tickets) related to the in-scope processes listed in Section 3 within agreed SLA timelines.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for recurring issues and propose permanent fixes or process improvements.
  • Support master data maintenance and configuration for classification (commodity/HS codes) legal regulations license types and screening parameters.
  • Support period-end and statutory activities such as Intrastat submissions and preference/origin documentation cycles.
  • Manage and monitor customs declarations (import/export) preference determination and long-term supplier declarations (LTSD/LTVD) processes.
  • Administer and monitor restricted party embargo and product-based compliance screening including handling of blocked documents and false-positive resolution.
  • Support export control license determination assignment and consumption tracking including Foreign Trade Legal Compliance (FTLC) processes such as technology transfer GCP/SAQ and CO-G export control checks.
  • Support employee/business-partner screening processes across regions (APAC NAFTA EMEA/LATAM).
  • Support handling of sanctions-related cases and the decision process for voluntary commitments (e.g. military end-use determinations).
  • Maintain compliance letters and related correspondence/documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with SAP Basis/technical teams for system changes transports and periodic system/legal-content updates (e.g. sanctioned party list and legal regulation updates).
  • Prepare and maintain functional documentation process flows and knowledge-base articles for the supported scope.
  • Participate in change management testing (unit/regression/UAT) and release cycles for enhancements and legal changes.
  • Provide status reporting and participate in governance calls (ticket review SLA review CAB) as required by the AMS engagement.


3. Required Skills & Experience
  • 37 years of hands-on SAP GTS experience across Compliance Management Customs Management and/or Risk Management modules (experience level dependent on seniority of the role).
  • Strong understanding of EU and international customs and foreign trade regulations including preferential origin export control sanctions/embargo regimes and Intrastat reporting.
  • Practical experience configuring and supporting SAP GTS Legal Control (license determination embargo sanctioned party list product-based screening) and Customs Management (import/export declarations T1 transit).
  • Experience with preference management processes including LTSD/LTVD issuance incoming supplier declarations and origin determination.
  • Working knowledge of SAP GTS integration with SAP ECC/S4HANA (feeder system) including master data (materials business partners) relevant to trade compliance.
  • Experience operating within an AMS/support model: ticketing tools (e.g. ServiceNow JIRA Solman) SLA management and incident/problem/change management processes.
  • Familiarity with restricted-party/sanctioned-party list screening tools and periodic legal-content updates.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into system behavior.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with global trade compliance legal and IT stakeholders across regions and time zones.
  • Experience with export control license management and technology transfer/deemed export processes is a strong plus.
4. Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • SAP GTS certification or equivalent formal training.
  • Experience supporting chemical life-sciences or manufacturing industry trade compliance processes (e.g. Covestro or similar material classification schemes).
  • Exposure to voluntary self-disclosure or military end-use determination processes.
  • Experience with global rollouts spanning EMEA APAC and NAFTA regions.
  • Working knowledge of ABAP debugging for functional root-cause analysis (not development).
5. Engagement Details
  • Engagement type: Application Management Support (AMS) steady-state support with SLA-based ticket resolution and periodic minor enhancements.
  • Work model: Remote / Hybrid (per client requirement) with overlap hours to support relevant regional time zones as applicable.
  • Reporting: Reports to the AMS Team Lead / SAP GTS Practice Lead with functional alignment to the clients Global Trade Compliance organization.
6. Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain International Trade Information Systems Engineering or a related field.

Relevant professional experience in SAP GTS support/implementation may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
