Position Summary

The Commodity Life Cycle Manager (CLCM) is responsible for the end-to-end health sustainability and lifecycle management of assigned commodity portfolios across the product lifecycle. The CLCM serves as the single point of accountability for proactive component risk management supplier lifecycle alignment obsolescence forecasting qualification strategies and change execution to ensure supply continuity product reliability cost optimization and long-term platform sustainability.

The role partners closely with Product Line Managers (PLMs) Design Engineering Supply Chain Commodity Business Management (CBM) Supplier Quality Manufacturing Service and Obsolescence Engineering teams to drive planned lifecycle management rather than reactive end-of-life response.

Key Responsibilities:

Commodity Portfolio Ownership

Own the lifecycle strategy for assigned commodities part families and technologies.

Maintain commodity roadmaps aligned to product roadmaps and supplier technology transitions.

Monitor portfolio health proliferation standardisation opportunities and preferred part adoption.

Drive commodity sustainability and long-term availability strategies

Lifecycle Risk Management

Identify and assess lifecycle risks including:

OEM End-of-Life (EOL)

Supplier discontinuances

Single-source exposure

Geopolitical and supply-chain risks

NRND (Not Recommended for New Design) components

Develop mitigation plans and prioritise actions based on business impact.

Establish leading indicators and lifecycle risk dashboards

Obsolescence Prevention & Forecasting

Drive proactive obsolescence management across product portfolios.

Forecast future lifecycle events and component constraints.

Build replacement strategies well before supplier notifications.

Reduce reactive engineering activity through planned lifecycle interventions

Solution Development & Change Execution

Lead selection and qualification of alternate parts.

Coordinate engineering validation and change implementation.

Drive ECR/ECO and product change activities related to lifecycle events.

Ensure changes meet cost reliability quality and supply continuity objectives

Supplier Lifecycle Engagement

Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers.

Review supplier technology roadmaps and lifecycle notifications.

Influence supplier plans to minimise business disruption.

Align sourcing strategies with long-term product requirements

Cross-Functional Governance

Commodity Business Managers

Supplier Quality

Manufacturing Engineering

Service & Spares teams

Lead lifecycle review forums and risk governance processes.

Communicate lifecycle status and mitigation plans to leadership.

Analytics & Digital Transformation

Maintain lifecycle intelligence tools and dashboards.

Analyze portfolio health metrics risk trends and backlog performance.

Drive data-driven decision making for lifecycle investments.

Support digital transformation initiatives related to component lifecycle management.
