Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Staff Security Software Engineer to design and build scalable security platforms and capabilities that strengthen Coupangs security posture.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems at scale. You will lead the design and implementation of distributed systems influence technical direction across teams and partner with security platform and software engineering organizations to deliver innovative solutions in the evolving security and AI landscape.

What You Will Do

• Lead the design development and delivery of high-impact security engineering initiatives.
• Build scalable security platforms and distributed systems that address complex security challenges.
• Collaborate across Security Engineering Infrastructure and GRC teams to translate ambiguous requirements into production-ready solutions.
• Drive architecture technical design reviews and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies AI capabilities and security solutions through prototypes and technical investigations.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.

Basic Qualifications

• 8 years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong technical leadership experience leading complex cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java Go Python or C.
• Experience designing building and operating highly scalable and reliable software platforms.
• Strong understanding of system architecture distributed systems performance and reliability.
• Experience with cloud technologies preferably AWS including IAM security controls logging and access management. Security engineering experience in one or more domains such as vulnerability management GRC application and data security IAM detection and response or security automation.
• Bachelors Masters or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building security products platforms or services at scale.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve security capabilities or engineering productivity.
• Track record of driving architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams and organizations.
• Experience solving large-scale availability scalability and performance challenges in production environments.

Type of work model

• Hybrid

Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
