Software Engineer – Java Full Stack Development

As a Software Engineer within Fords Customer Service Division (FCSD) Technology organization you will design develop and support cloud-native applications that power critical customer service experiences.

You will work as part of Agile product teams building scalable secure and high-performing solutions using modern technologies such as Java Spring Boot React Angular Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and DevSecOps practices.

This role offers opportunities to participate in application modernization cloud transformation AI-enabled development and continuous improvement initiatives that support Fords digital transformation strategy.

Application Development

• Design develop test deploy and maintain enterprise applications using modern full-stack technologies.
• Build responsive user interfaces using React or Angular.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Java Spring Boot REST APIs and microservices.

Cloud Engineering

• Participate in cloud-native application development and modernization initiatives on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Support scalable resilient and secure cloud architectures.

DevSecOps & Quality

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Develop automated tests and promote code quality standards.
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies where appropriate.

Production Support

• Investigate production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Participate in application monitoring incident response and on-call support rotations.
• Ensure system reliability and operational excellence.

Collaboration

• Work closely with product managers architects designers and engineering teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning reviews and retrospectives.
• Contribute to code reviews design discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

AI-Enabled Development

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and engineering practices to improve productivity quality and delivery efficiency.
• Support adoption of modern software engineering practices enabled by Generative AI technologies.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Front-end development experience using ReactJS and/or Angular.
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git CI/CD and Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Understanding of cloud technologies preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and secure software development practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and software engineering best practices.

Professional Experience

• 35 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience in application design development testing deployment and production support.
• Proven ability to build and maintain enterprise-scale applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Information Technology or a related field.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting cloud-native production applications.
• Experience working in large-scale Agile product organizations.
• Exposure to Generative AI technologies and AI-powered developer productivity tools.
